TRANSPARENCY
Anyone is welcome to visit Maple Creek Farm anytime we are on site. We don't have any secrets and want you to get to know our farm and our animals. Bring your kids and cameras!
RESPECT
Our animals are treated with respect as they are God's creation. We honor our Creator by taking care of His creation in the manner that the created being was designed to thrive. And when the day comes for our animals to be processed, it will be done in a humane, sanitary, and reverent manner.
INDIVIDUALITY
None of our animals spend their lives confined in overcrowded, restrictive, concrete floored structures. Chickens were created to scratch at the earth, foraging for greens and bugs, so they free-range on our 2+ acre pasture. Pigs were created to dig and root in the earth, eating roots, bugs, and greens, so our pigs enjoy their 1/5 acre paddock where they can dig and wallow in dirt to their hearts' content. Cows were created to eat fresh grass, not grain, so they will enjoy fresh pasture everyday.
REGENERATION
We are using our chickens, as well as pigs and cows, to regenerate the microbiology, nutrient, and mineral content of our soil by feeding our chickens mineral and nutrient rich feeds in addition to the forage and bugs in our pastures. The animals are only able to retain a portion of the minerals and nutrients that they ingest. What they don’t turn into eggs or meat is ‘deposited’ throughout our pasture, improving our soil!
SUSTAINABILITY
Soil regeneration goes beyond sustainability. We seek to regenerate the depleted soils of the pastures that we lease or purchase, not sustain it at the current level of depletion at time of acquisition. We seek to increase the amount of organic matter (carbon) that is retained in our soil along with potassium, nitrogen, phosphorous, and over a dozen other trace minerals that are incredibly important to the health of our customers, our animals, and our pasture grasses.
GRASS
Each blade of pasture grass and plant leaf acts as a solar collector that turns sunlight, carbon-dioxide, and water into delicious food for animals. Our chickens (and future cows and pigs) have full access to a new plot of fresh pasture every day.
NATURAL GROWTH
Maple Creek Farm desires to grow to serve our growing community but that growth must be organic, right-sized to allow us to control our farm and not have our farm control us, and without taking on debt.
Slow and steady wins the race!
ORGANIC & NON-GMO
The daily rotation to a new patch of grass eliminates the need to give our animals antibiotics, de-wormers and other drugs that could pass on to our consumers. The grass and other plant life in our pastures regenerate naturally from seeds long buried in the dormant, depleted soil and from non-GMO cool-weather cover-crops that are planted in the fall. we don’t use fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides on our pastures and gardens. You can’t get much better than that!
